Spring holiday in Falzes – Nature awakening in Pusteria Valley
In spring nature revives on the sunny high plain at the beginning of the Pusteria Valley. The South Tyrolean municipality of Falzes lies in a mild climate zone at an altitude of 1.022 metres a.s.l. While Dolomites peaks are still snow-capped, nature flourishes in the valley floor and on middle mountain range slopes. Meadows shine in their sappy green colour and the first flowers appear here and there. During your March holiday Falzes will welcome you with warm hospitality, attractive excursion destinations and a blooming alpine landscape that shines with its numerous colours in the warm Mediterranean wind currents.
Interesting discovery trips during spring holiday
Spring in Falzes is the ideal season for a discovery trip in this region. Many attractive excursion destinations wait for your visit in March, April and May. The Alte Mühle House in the village of Molini is the perfect starting point for a discovery trip in Pusteria Valley and in the nearby regions. The small village of Issengo lies only 800 metres from your accommodation and is a paradise for nature lovers, as interesting as the mountain pine oil distillery and herb garden of Bergila. These excursion destinations can be easily reached during your spring holiday, along a 500 metres walking path from Alte Mühle House. During a round trip of the Dolomites you will experience unforgettable sensations in front of this untouched mountain landscape.
Medieval ambience in Pusteria Valley
The medieval castles provide an historical flair to this area. Schöneck Castle lies hidden beyond high spruces and offers a fabulous view. A botanic curiosity lies at the bottom of the mountain hill. Here you will find a column spruce, which is the only known exemplar of this type in South Tyrol. Because of its bizarre aspect this is also called “serpentine spruce”. The slim branches leap delicate around the trunk and reach down to the bottom. Only on the top there are vertical growing branches. Nearby the historical Castel Badia (Sonnenburg) in S. Lorenzo is a visit worth.
